E-Learning

Starting in August 2008 and based on the ETH E-Learning Strategy, Departement E-Learning Specialists (DELIS) are offering support and consulting for computer based learning technologies. They build the DELIS-network across the ETH and collaborate closely with the Educational Development and Technology unit (LET).

The E-Learning Specialist for the Departments D-AGRL and D-UWIS supports Lecturers during all phases of a course with his E-Learning-Services. He also coordinates initiatives within and across the departments and connects to the central services.

The interdepartmental project MobilityMatters resulted in an information portal for international MSc Students and a variety of e-Learning Materials. It has also triggered a current initiative to rewrite the learning objectives of the core modules in the Environmental Sciences Bachelor Programme.

All efforts are intended to contribute to an attractive programme for students. We have already

• centralized links to Online-Learning resources in the course catalogue
• established the use of Classroom Response Systems (Clickers) in order to boost interactivity in large lectures
• undertaken a study on the potential of mobile devices for note-taking during lectures (eSkript)

• more acitivities in courses, such as: administration of practical courses, Wikipedia-Publishing, lecture-notes-wiki, literature-seminar-wiki, preparation and feedback for field courses, e-Exams on the microscope, Online-Learning-Units
